This week highlighted Kaisahang Buhay Foundation’s (KBF) strong presence in national policy discussions, partnerships, and child welfare governance.

KBF Executive Director Glady Quindoza-Bunao, RSW, MSW participated in the Technical Working Group session at the House of Representatives of the Philippines for the deliberation of the proposed Magna Carta for Public Social Workers under the Social Services Committee. The TWG adopted House Bill No. 7313, consolidating earlier proposals filed by several members of Congress. Inputs from the ASEAN Social Work Consortium Philippines, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and other resource persons were carefully considered in refining the measure.

Representing private social workers, Ms. Bunao raised welfare concerns affecting private practitioners and NGOs, and introduced the possibility of pursuing a future Magna Carta for Private Social Workers, which was acknowledged during the session.

As a Council Member of the National Authority for Child Care, representing NGOs and Child Placing Agencies, she also participated in a NACC Council meeting focused on strengthening policies that protect, restore, and empower children and families.

KBF likewise took part in the Evaluation and Planning Workshop of the National Committee on the Filipino Family, which began on February 25. Ms. Bunao and Rachel Bismonte (KBF’s Program Supervisor) represented KBF as one of its pioneering member organizations. KBF currently serves as Vice Chair of the NCFF, reaffirming its leadership role in advancing collaborative efforts to strengthen Filipino families.

Through sustained engagement in legislative, council, and national network platforms, KBF continues to actively contribute to policy development and coordinated action for the welfare of Filipino children and families.
