Shaping the Future of Social Work: Trauma-Informed Care at St. Maryโ€™s College

Kaisahang Buhay Foundationโ€™s advocacy continues to reach partner schools, equipping future professionals with trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches in caring for children and families.

One of these meaningful engagements was at St. Maryโ€™s College, Quezon City, where our Executive Director delivered a session on Understanding Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRIยฎ).

The session was attended by Social Work students from 1st to 4th year levels, as well as students from the College of Education. It was encouraging to see so many future social workers and educators eager to deepen their understanding of trauma, healing, and compassionate practice.

Beyond the lecture, this engagement also became an opportunity to share about KBFโ€™s programs and services. It allowed us to strengthen academic partnerships while raising awareness about alternative child care, family strengthening, and independent living support.

Session Highlights

Alumna Participation: Our KBF Social Worker, Jewil, a proud alumna of St. Maryโ€™s College, joined the session.

Impact Testimony: Our ILEA Scholar, Zeldie, shared how KBF and the TBRIยฎ camps impacted his lifeโ€”a powerful reminder that healing is possible.

We are grateful to former DSWD Usec. Lulu Balanon, a strong supporter of KBF since 1975, for the invitation, and to Dean Doc Imee Macaraig and Prof. Lalaine for the warm welcome and partnership.

To our partners and supporters, thank you for making these engagements possible. Because of you, KBFโ€™s advocacy reaches classrooms, communities, and future professionals who will carry forward the mission of protecting children and strengthening families.
